History
The history of George Aivatoglou and Mt Buller have been intertwined ever since George first worked for Auski Ski Hire in 1963. That was back in the 'rope tow' days. George was employed as a carpenter, building the first Auski and was asked to stay on during the following winter.
After escaping with his life from the blazing inferno that destroyed Auski in 1964, George helped rebuild that shop. On marrying his wife Margaret in 1967, George left Auski and joined the fledgling Molony's Ski Hire as Manager in 1968.
Molony's was then rebuilt on the old Mt Buller Post Office site in 1969 and George operated that business until he purchased it a few years later. George's children Robert and Lia are also both involved in the business.
George has been on Mt Buller working in ski hire since 1964. His friendly face is always a welcome signal that winter has arrived again. No matter where you look on Mt. Buller, no one has the ski hire experience George has!!
